The island of Seiland lies in the very north of Norway. This little wilderness paradise offers an exceptional environment for ski touring in winter. Each day we’ll set off on a different ascent from the small village on the edge of the fjord where we’ll have our base camp. We will ski either towards the centre of the island or by entering the fiords by sea in a small fishing boat.
The place is exceptional, quiet and so confidential that me may be the only few skiers there....
Skit touring on Seiland island, Norway
Your trip day to day
Overnight in an hotel in Alta.
We’ll take a minibus to the village of Hamerfest and then make the 20-minute ferry crossing to Seiland island. We’ll settle in and prepare our equipment for the stay. Skiing possible in the afternoon, depending on arrival time and snow conditions.
The days are getting longer at this time of year, so we’ll have plenty of time to ski-tour one or more summits during the day. The average ascent will be around 700m with departures will from sea level. To get to the bottom of the Fjords, we’ll board small fishing boats and snow scooters will bring us closer to our starting point on the days when we head for the peaks of the island’s interior.

High mountain : special warning
Ski touring is dependent on different factors that we can sometimes neither anticipate nor control; we may therefore have to modify the programme of our high mountain holidays before or during the stay for various reasons:
- if the weather and/or snow conditions make it impossible to carry out the planned programme and/or
- if there is a delay in the opening or early closure of a ski lift or refuge
In these cases, we will offer you an alternative programme, sometimes on the day of departure, which you may not refuse.
Splitboarding, as all mountain activities have some level of risk particularly of avalanche or injury in the event of a fall.
To reduce the hazards that they are exposed to skiers must follow the safety instructions given by the instructor.
You must be aware of these risks and accept them when booking.

To make the most of this exceptional holiday, you need to have some ski touring experience. Be able to cover 900m ascents and ski in all types of snow.
