The levels : Splitboarding
Level 1: beginner
I’ve never done ski touring or splitboarding. My skiing level allows me to descend (even gently) in all types of snow on red slopes.
My physical condition allows me to walk for 3 to 4 hours.
I’d like to take a gentle introduction to this activity, and learn how to go uphill in sealskin and how to ski downhill in powder snow. I’d like to discover the mountains in wintertime, away from the ski resorts.
Level 2: advanced
I’ve already skied several summits during my holidays. I can ski down 35° slopes in all types of snow.
I am doing sport regularly and exercise my endurance. I can do hikes with up to 1000m elevation at a moderate but regular pace.
I can manage my own equipment (putting on/removing skins, knives, crampons, assembling/disassembling my split).
I’d like to improve on what I’ve already learnt and develop new technical skills on both ascents and descents while climbing some beautiful peaks.
Level 3: expert
I’ve been ski touring or splitboarding for several years.
I have good experience of the mountains in winter conditions. I’ve already used an avalanche transceiver. I have some knowledge of snow conditions.
I am physically fit enough to walk 6 to 8 hours at altitude.
I can manage my own equipment.
I would like to improve my technical skills to be able to climb more difficult peaks, both up and down, learn how to use an avalanche transceiver and improve my knowledge of snow conditions to be more independent.
